Reasons why climbers summit Mount Kilimanjaro at night
Climbers often choose to summit Mount Kilimanjaro at night for several reasons:
- Weather Conditions: Mount Kilimanjaro is located near the equator, and during the day, the temperatures can be extremely high. As climbers ascend, the temperature drops, and during the night, it is generally colder and more favorable for the strenuous activity of climbing. Climbing during the day can subject climbers to intense heat, which can be physically challenging and increase the risk of dehydration.
- Summit Timing: Climbers usually aim to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro at sunrise to witness breathtaking views and take memorable photographs.
