This route is very appropriate for those climbers who love camping. The first day we leave Nanyuki for Marania through Timau and into the Eboli farm. This first day gives you a chance to gradually increase attitude level s through the natural bushes and vegetation very unique but that characterizes the drier forest flora. The Marania camp gives a good view of the summit point Lenana during a clear morning.
We leave Marania for major’s camp. This will be a walk on long but less steep tracks. You will be able to come face to face with Zebras and elands on the safari tracks once in a while.
The day gives you a chance to get mountains vegetation, rocks and cold weather. This is as a result of steepy terrains from the camp to Shiptons camp that stands at an average height of 4200 meters above the sea level via The Icemike. You also get a chance to view a skeleton of an elephant believed to have died years back.
The day sees u wake up very early in the morning for the summit at Mt. Lenana for the view of sunrise and Kilimanjaro Mountain to the west. Oldonyo to the south and Marsabit Mountains to the north. The summit point is at 4895 meters above the sea level. Then climb down to Mintos camp for breakfast before further down to to Meru Bandas for hot lunch and free afternoon. Arriving late evening. Here we have a rare opportunity of having a hot shower as well as grabbing a cold drink of your choice. The Banda have got hot water for showering and the temperatures here are relatively low and is also home to herds of buffaloes and other animals that roam the camp at night and can still be visible during the day. Dinner and overnight here
This is one day that gives you the largest forest car drive or trek of 29 km of natural forest to the Chogoria town where you can board your means of transport either to Nanyuki or Nairobi via Embu.
