Overview

The Sirimon–Sirimon route is a 4-day out-and-back trek to Point Lenana (4,985 m), using the Sirimon route for both ascent and descent. It is one of the more gradual approaches to Mount Kenya, passing through forest, moorland and the alpine zone.

Tour Plan

Depart Nairobi early and drive to Nanyuki, then continue to Sirimon Gate. Begin trekking through montane forest, bamboo and giant heather before entering the moorland zone. Continue to Old Moses/Judmier Camp (3,300 m) for dinner and overnight.

Wake around 2:00–3:00 AM and start the summit attempt. Trek through the rocky alpine zone to Point Lenana (4,985 m), the highest trekking summit on Mount Kenya, aiming to arrive around sunrise. After enjoying the summit views, descend to Shipton's Camp for breakfast, then continue down Mackinder's Valley to Old Moses Camp for the night
