Overview
The Sirimon route comes from the west of Mount Kenya and passes through the dry side of the mountain. Giant trees and a rocky terrain awaits you here, before you descend onto the Chogoria path, where you can spot a totally different view with lush bamboo and highland forests.

Depart Nairobi 6:30am Road trip to Sirimon gate and have a picnic lunch before entry. The hike start from the Sirimon Park gate (2660m). From the gate, trek upthrough magnificent montane forest, bamboo and giant heather zone before reaching the high altitude moorland and our first hut (Old Moses camp3,300m) for evening tea, mountain entertainment dinner and overnight stay. This is a gentle trek that takes 3-4 hrs gaining an elevation of680m. From Old Moses camp you can see the summits of Batian and Nelionpeaks
After a heavy breakfast, Hike to Shipton’s camp (4200m ), 17 kms (6 to 8 hrs hike) through Likii Valley mid morning After a water break,continue on the track crossing Ontulili River before turning right contouring through the Moorland and crossing Likii North River andMackinders Valley, a great day of scenery and magical photo shoots.There are killer & panoramic views of the peaks from the view point. A Nourishing lunch will be served by the Likii River and continue to Shiptons camp at 4200m Evening tea, snacks, dinner and overnight stay.
This camp is a surreal setting below the towering peaks and glacier.
Resident population is of Rock hyrax and sun birds
You are awake early in the morning for some. We now leave the camp at 2am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns. The journey lasts about 3 hours arriving Mount Kenya Point Lenana at 6:30am. Trekking to Lenana Peak at 4985m taking about 3hrs or so.
Enjoy photographic session and sightseeing from the summit. After the African sunrise, descend down to Lake Michaelson (8km), 3hrs, for breakfast & Lunch. Dinner and overnight at Lake Michaelson camp, B,L,D
After Breakfast we follow the track through giant heather and forest down to Chogoria road head from where the path drops to cross a stream then follows the broad ridge to the west of the gorges valley to reach Bandas.
We are going to have Lunch at Road head campsite,explore the Nithi waterfall then there after hike to bandas.
Dinner and spend the night at Anabas Lodge(Bandas), B, L, D
After enjoying your last breakfast, you will walk down by trekking for 2hrs, 10km to forest clearance. The remaining part distance of approximately 16km is by 4x4WD vehicle. Catch a 4x4 transfer vehicle to Chogoria Village where you will connect with your transfer vehicle back to Nairobi.
